Everything on this page is what we would tell you on the telephone. It is written down so that it cannot be remembered differently later.

Old City Cold Storage Co. is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Sub-Zero or its parent company. All brand names and model numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the appliances we service.

Sub-Zero is a trademark of Sub-Zero Group, Inc.

We name Sub-Zero on this site for one reason: to identify, accurately, which appliances we will and will not accept work on. We do not use the manufacturer's logos, typefaces or colour schemes, and we hold no credential, appointment or endorsement from the manufacturer or its parent company. Any impression to the contrary would be wrong, and we would want to correct it.

Terms of work

Diagnostic. $129 flat, per visit, per appliance. Flat diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair when you approve the work.
Estimates. A written estimate is presented before any part is ordered or any repair begins.
Parts. Genuine OEM parts only.
Warranty. 90 days on labour and 365 days on parts from the date the repair is completed. It covers the fault we repaired and the parts we fitted, and it does not cover a new and unrelated fault.
Refrigerant. EPA Section 608 certified technicians for sealed-system refrigerant work.
Insurance. Liability insured.
Scope. Sub-Zero refrigeration, wine storage and ice machines only. If the appliance is another make, we will say so and decline the work.
Access. Built-in units may require the cabinetry to be opened. Where that risks damage to joinery or stone, we will say so before starting and let you decide.

No claim on this site is an offer of a fixed price for a repair, because a repair cannot be priced before it is diagnosed.

The customer reviews on this site are published as they were given to us, under a first name and a last initial, and the star figure beside them is the arithmetic mean of that same published set — nothing is averaged that is not printed. A rating appears only on a page that shows the reviews behind it. Where this site describes a local condition — coastal exposure at a named ZIP code, thunderstorm frequency across the county, the era a neighbourhood was built in — it is offered as a general description of the area and not as a measurement taken at your address. What is true of your appliance is established at the visit, not on a web page.
